This hydrometer serves to measure percentage extract during the brewing process. Once the wort extract at the end of brewing is measured, it is also used to measure the change in apparent extract during fermentation. This information can be used to calculate the theoretical alcohol percentage during and at the end of fermentation.
The temperature correction functions to obtain a more accurate reading from the apparatus. The correction on Brix reading is done by adding or subtracting the value corresponding to the measured Brix range (0-15% or 15-30%) and the sample temperature. For example if a reading of 12 Brix is read off the hydrometer, and the sample temperature is 22°C, then the corrected Brix value will be 22.1 Brix.
